About The Position

This is a temporary part-time support staff Bargaining Unit position reporting to the Associate Director, Student Success & Access Programs working 20 hours per week at an hourly rate of $30.50

This position will start on August 3, 2026 and run for 8 months.

The incumbent is responsible for supporting students with a dual diagnosis within the Accessibility Centre. They will assist students in accessing the necessary resources to succeed in their studies, ensuring appropriate accommodations are implemented both within and outside of learning environments. This includes coordinating access to assistive technologies and specialized resources to foster overall student success, well-being, and a sense of belonging on campus. Furthermore, the specialist will collaborate closely with faculty and the broader Student Success team to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to student accessibility.

Specific Accountabilities

Provide individualized support for students presenting with a dual diagnosis (for example, students with a learning disability with a mental health disorder) Identify the unique academic and personal barriers faced by this student population Develop and implement academic accommodation plans tailored to the student’s functional limitations Ensure accommodations are applied consistently across all learning environments, including classrooms, labs, shops, and experiential learning spaces Identify and coordinate the delivery of specialized resources, such as assistive software, hardware, or human supports Support students to access and use resources and supports to foster independence and academic and personal success Act as a liaison with faculty to ensure accommodations are understood and respected. Work collaboratively with the broader SS and Access team to provide a holistic support network for the student Provide ongoing mentorship and check ins to monitor student well being and campus integration Identify non-academic barriers to success and refer students to external community partners, such as mental health services like CMHA, when necessary Maintain accurate, confidential records of student interactions and accommodation history in accordance with college policy and privacy legislation Track and report on the impact of funded supports to demonstrate program efficacy for future funding cycles

Qualifications

3 year post-secondary diploma in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field as deemed appropriate by the College Up to and including 3 years of practical experience providing direct case management and student support services, accessibility advisement, learning strategies, assistive technology, alternate format and accommodations training to individuals with disabilities Preference will be given to those with previous experience in a post secondary educational setting
