Position Summary The School of Community Studies is seeking a passionate and student-focused Instructor, Education Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced education professional who is committed to preparing future Education Assistants through engaging, learner-centered instruction and real-world expertise.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction within the Education Assistant program while fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment. Using a competency-based education approach, you will teach across a variety of learning modalities, including in-person, online, blended, and organizational settings.

Beyond teaching, you will contribute to curriculum development, assess student learning, mentor students throughout their educational journey, and collaborate with faculty, community partners, and industry stakeholders to ensure graduates are well prepared for careers supporting diverse learners within the Canadian education system.

What You'll Be Doing: Deliver Exceptional Learning Experiences: Facilitate engaging, competency-based learning experiences that support student achievement and professional readiness. This includes planning and delivering instruction, developing lesson plans, selecting effective instructional strategies, and assessing student progress using a variety of evaluation methods. You will maintain accurate academic records and collaborate with the Program Chair to review and enhance curriculum, learning activities, and assessment tools.

Champion Student Success: Build supportive relationships with students, provide timely feedback, monitor academic progress, and address learning challenges with care and professionalism. You will connect students with appropriate college resources, ensure approved accommodations are implemented, and contribute to student-focused initiatives such as orientations, scholarship selection, and graduation celebrations.

Foster Community and Industry Connections: Maintain strong relationships with school divisions, community organizations, employers, and government partners. You will stay current with emerging trends and best practices in education, participate in advisory committees and recruitment activities, and contribute to articulation and transfer initiatives that enhance student pathways.

Contribute to Academic Excellence: You will actively support continuous improvement within the program by: Participating in curriculum development and program enhancement initiatives. Engaging in professional development and maintaining instructional excellence. Supporting applied research opportunities where appropriate. Following College policies, procedures, and mandatory training requirements. Contributing to special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum: Bachelor of Education. 4 years of experience in the Canadian Education system. Teaching in diverse and inclusive settings Strong understanding of the role of Education Assistants. Experience in working directly with Education Assistants across multiple settings Knowledge of Competency Based Education in post-secondary education Police information check including a vulnerable sector.

Preferred: Supervisory experience with practicum students and/or staff is an asset Adult education teaching and learning experience is an asset Curriculum development an asset.

This opening is a temporary (faculty) position with an end date of August 16, 2028. Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check. If your education was received internationally, we will require you to provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.
