About the role

MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING PROGRAM COORDINATOR 

(12 MONTHS CONTRACT)

JIAS Toronto is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with resettlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists lawfully admitted immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, social, legal and other requirements of immigration. We work to advance the well-being and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of outreach, support, counseling, training and referral resources. 

We are currently looking for a Mental Health and Wellbeing Program Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing trauma informed and culturally appropriate programs that support the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees, focusing on mental health and well-being. This position is a contract position, offering flexibility to work both remotely and in-person at the JIAS offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a series of group programs that support the emotional well-being of vulnerable newcomers and address mental health barriers to initial settlement in Canada (coping mechanisms, ability to focus, parenting challenges, etc.)
  • Identify potential program participants through outreach to agency caseload, partner agency referrals, and community outreach
  • Support the recruitment of volunteers, cultivation of community partnerships, provision of educational outreach programming, and heightening of awareness about the agency’s work and needs
  • Support the measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of program activities, engage in continuous quality improvement, and ensure all deliverables are met
  • Collaborate with the Program Supervisor on preparing/monitoring program budgets and meeting all financial and narrative reporting timelines
  • Other duties as assigned or required. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Social Services Worker diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field (Social Work, Psychology, or similar) required;
  • Minimum 2 years of program delivery experience, ideally in a non-profit social service setting
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client record management systems such as Salesforce;
  • Experience in program development and logistics;
  • Prior background with mental health and trauma informed care;
  • Fluency in a language spoken by agency clients such as Dari/Farsi, Hebrew, and/or Tigrinya would be an asset
