The base salary will be $74,990 - $107,050 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Please note, this is a 18-month temporary full-time contract opportunity. This contract includes a comprehensive benefits package.

The Western Communications team provides strategic advice to university senior leadership, faculty, staff and teams of internal and external communications staff across Western in order to build the university’s brand on a local, national and global scale.

Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Recruitment Marketing is responsible for leading the strategic planning and execution of integrated recruitment marketing initiatives that position Western University as a top choice for prospective students in Canada and around the world. This role develops and implements comprehensive marketing strategies to build brand awareness, drive consideration, and support undergraduate enrolment goals across domestic and key international markets.

The role will oversee the development and execution of multi-channel campaigns, including paid, owned, earned, and social media, while optimizing lead generation and nurturing programs across the recruitment funnel. The Associate Director will lead major prospective student experience initiatives, including web development projects, viewbooks, and other high-impact marketing assets, ensuring consistency with Western’s brand and alignment with strategic priorities.

Working in close partnership with the Office of the Registrar, and collaboratively with faculties across the institution, the Associate Director will leverage data, audience insights, and market research to inform strategy, enhance the prospective student journey, and identify new opportunities to engage high-potential audiences. The role will also manage external agency and vendor relationships, oversee global marketing initiatives, guide social media strategy, and monitor performance through dashboards and analytics to ensure continuous optimization and return on investment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related discipline, along with several years of progressive experience in marketing, including leadership experience in developing and executing integrated campaigns in a complex, matrixed environment.

They are a strategic and results-driven marketing leader with strong experience in campaign planning, digital and social media, and audience engagement. They bring a deep understanding of recruitment marketing or consumer marketing principles, with the ability to translate insights and data into effective strategies that drive awareness and conversion.

They are highly collaborative and skilled at building relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, with excellent communication and influencing skills. The ideal candidate has experience managing external agencies and vendors, leading large-scale marketing projects, and working with analytics and reporting tools to measure performance and optimize outcomes.

The successful candidate is organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality. Experience in post-secondary recruitment, international marketing, or working within a large, complex organization is considered an asset.
