We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional technology initiatives from planning through delivery. This role is ideal for a project manager with a strong technical foundation, proven leadership skills, and experience managing software development, infrastructure, or systems integration projects. The successful candidate will collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
Job Title: Senior Technical Project Manager Location: Mississauga, ON (hybrid) Duration: 06 Months (Possible Extension/Conversion)
Key Responsibilities: Project Planning & Delivery Define project scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and success criteria in partnership with business and technology stakeholders. Develop and manage detailed project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, budgets, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies. Drive projects through the entire lifecycle—from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, and successful delivery. Ensure projects remain on track by proactively managing scope, timelines, budgets, and quality. Team & Stakeholder Management Lead cross-functional teams consisting of software engineers, infrastructure teams, architects, QA, and business partners. Serve as the primary point of contact for project communications and stakeholder management. Facilitate project meetings, including kick-offs, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, steering committee meetings, and retrospectives. Communicate technical concepts and project status effectively to both technical and executive audiences. Technical Leadership & Risk Management Develop a strong understanding of the project's technical architecture, dependencies, and implementation approach. Partner with technical leads to resolve technical challenges and remove delivery roadblocks. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while developing contingency plans when needed. Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards, business objectives, and technical requirements. Reporting & Process Improvement Track project performance using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Project. Produce regular status reports covering project health, milestones, risks, issues, budget, and resource utilization. Manage scope changes through established governance and change management processes. Conduct project retrospectives and document lessons learned to improve future project execution.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 5–10 years of experience managing complex technical projects involving software development, infrastructure, or systems integration. Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Experience working with Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall delivery methodologies. Demonstrated success managing project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations. Hands-on experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications: PMP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or other relevant project management certifications. Experience managing cloud-based projects in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Previous hands-on experience as a Software Engineer, Developer, or Technical Lead. Experience within the banking or financial services industry. Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
