To learn more about Alberta Mental Health and Addiction and what we have to offer, follow this link: https://www.alberta.ca/mental-health-and-addiction.Role Responsibilities Help protect Albertans and strengthen addiction services across the province.As a Regulatory Officer, you are a front-line representative of the Ministry, ensuring compliance with legislation through inspection, investigation, education, and enforcement activities.  Acting as the Ministry’s front-line representative, you will collaborate with service providers, stakeholders, and other authorities to address risks, resolve complaints, and uphold legislative requirements.This position reports to the Manager of the Compliance and Monitoring Unit within the Regulatory Compliance and Data Stewardship Branch and plays a critical role in shaping Alberta’s proactive response to addiction. This role will be responsible for:Key responsibilities include:

Compliance & Enforcement: Conduct inspections, assess compliance, issue orders, and support enforcement actions under the Mental Health Services Act (MHSPA) Investigations: Respond to complaints, collect evidence, and prepare clear, defensible reports and recommendations Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships and provide guidance to service providers, partners, and the public on legislative requirements Analysis & Reporting: Prepare reports, briefing materials, and provide insights on risks, trends, and emerging issues Continuous Improvement: Contribute to policy, process improvements, and support quality assurance across services

Experience working in a regulatory, compliance, or enforcement environment, including inspections or monitoring activities Experience conducting investigations, including gathering evidence, analyzing findings, and preparing reports Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, or standards to support decision-making Experience working with stakeholders, including service providers, partners, or the public, to provide guidance and resolve issues

Assets:

Experience working within the addiction and/or mental health sector Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the MHSPA, MHSPR, FOIP, or Health Information Act Experience supporting or participating in licensing processes, inspections coordination, or program oversight activities Experience preparing briefing notes, reports, or correspondence for leadership or decision-makers
