About the role

The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day transportation, final-mile delivery, LTL, warehouse, and terminal operations. This role is responsible for leading supervisors, dispatch teams, drivers, warehouse staff, and third-party partners to ensure freight is received, stored, routed, delivered, and documented accurately and on time. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong experience in transport operations, warehouse flow, customer service, cost control, safety compliance, and team accountability.

Key Responsibilities Manage daily LTL, final-mile delivery, warehouse, and cross-dock operations to ensure service commitments are met. Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, dispatchers, drivers, owner operators, warehouse staff, and administrative support teams. Oversee inbound receiving, freight staging, routing, loading, delivery execution, returns, claims handling, and warehouse storage processes. Ensure all freight is handled safely, accurately, and in compliance with company SOPs, customer requirements, and transportation regulations. Monitor operational performance including on-time delivery, productivity, cost per stop, route efficiency, claims, damages, missed deliveries, and customer service levels. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve labour productivity, warehouse flow, routing accuracy, service quality, and cost control. Review daily staffing levels, delivery capacity, equipment requirements, and workload planning to support operational demand. Work closely with dispatch, warehouse teams, carriers, and clients to resolve service issues and improve communication. Maintain accountability for safety compliance, incident investigations, corrective actions, driver standards, equipment inspections, and workplace housekeeping. Support budget management by controlling labour, overtime, vehicle utilization, subcontractor costs, warehouse expenses, and operational waste. Ensure accurate use of TMS, WMS, routing, scanning, proof-of-delivery, and reporting systems. Prepare regular operational reports for senior leadership, including performance results, service challenges, improvement actions, and staffing needs.

Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, LTL, final-mile delivery, warehousing, or distribution operations. Minimum 2 years of leadership experience managing operational teams in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of LTL freight handling, final-mile delivery processes, warehouse operations, routing, dispatch, and customer service requirements. Experience working with TMS, WMS, route optimization tools, scanning systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to manage KPIs, improve operational performance, and hold teams accountable to service and safety standards. Strong communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work flexible hours based on operational needs, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required. Knowledge of transportation safety regulations, workplace safety requirements, and claims/damage prevention practices is considered an asset. Forklift, MHE, or warehouse equipment experience is considered an asset.
