About the Liaison Librarian Position:
The Library seeks an innovative, creative, and digitally-skilled liaison librarian for the college’s Lakeshore campus to support teaching, learning, and research in the Faculty of Media, Creative Arts, and Design. A central part of the role is teaching information and digital literacy competencies to learners based on course learning outcomes and in consultation with instructors, with the goal of integrating and scaffolding content throughout curricula. With a focus on active learning and student engagement, the Librarian uses teaching methods and develops learning objects grounded in the Universal Design for Learning framework. Teaching modalities may range from in-person synchronous learning to hybrid and online asynchronous modules.
The Librarian assists students, faculty, and staff with accessing and using library resources via in-person and video appointments, and chat/text (askON). Developing and maintaining collections in all formats and completing library assessments for new and renewed programs in assigned liaison areas are also part of the role. The Librarian builds relationships with faculty and administrators to facilitate awareness of library services and to learn about library-related needs and opportunities for collaboration.
Working with the librarian and library administrative teams, the incumbent participates in service delivery and content development outside their liaison areas to support students’ academic success (e.g. artificial intelligence and the research process, academic integrity and citation supports, EDIB-related content, orientations). Leading and participating in departmental and other committees is also part of this role. The Librarian shapes their teaching, collections, and research help practices using the core values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging throughout.
