About the role

PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis, Mott MacDonald, and Weston Williamson + Partners. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canada’s largest airport for the future of air travel—including critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.

JOB SUMMARY The Health and Safety Student will actively assist in implementing and monitoring the site-specific safety plan to ensure a secure work environment across the complex, live-airport PACT project. You will work closely with site supervisors and the safety team to promote a "Safety First" culture.

This is a 12-16 month co-op student opportunity starting in September 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES Accompany Health and Safety Managers on daily site walks and safety inspections to identify potential hazards. Assist in coordinating and tracking safety training, including Airport Security Awareness and Health and Safety Awareness modules. Support the documentation of incident reports, near-misses, and safety observations. Help prepare materials for safety orientations, toolbox talks, and Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings. Assist with maintaining safety equipment inventories and compliance records. WORKING CONDITIONS The position will be based at our office in Mississauga, Ontario, with visits to the Airport site as required. Your work schedule will be Monday to Friday during regular office or site hours. DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES Currently enrolled in an Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related post-secondary program. Basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and standard construction safety practices. Proactive attitude with the ability to confidently communicate safety protocols to diverse teams. Detail-oriented with strong administrative and record-keeping skills. Strong organizational skills and an eagerness to learn in a fast-paced project team.
