Job Title: Staff Systems Engineer

Job Description

This Staff Systems Engineer role focuses on leading projects from concept through commissioning and early operations. The position is ideal for an ambitious professional who wants to solve complex problems, develop novel concepts.

Responsibilities

Provide end-to-end oversight of engineering activities across the full lifecycle, from concept definition through commissioning and early operations. Oversee the development and define high-level mission specifications that meet user requirements. Lead technical solution development for enhancements. Lead mission-level technical risk management, integration, verification, and validation activities to ensure successful mission delivery. Take responsibility of successful commissioning, calibration, and early operations. Provide sound technical guidance and recommendations to leadership and support new business initiatives with technical expertise. Mentor and coach team members to develop their technical skills and domain knowledge. Understand user needs and applications and translate them into clear specifications. Contribute to calibration and image quality optimization. Collaborate effectively within a large engineering organization, managing dependencies and aligning with stakeholder needs across technical, sales, executive, and customer teams.

Essential Skills

Graduate degree (Master’s or PhD level preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 10 or more years of experience in a space systems engineering environment or a similarly complex systems engineering environment. Experience working across different engineering life cycles for large, complex programs. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to act as a self-starter in a dynamic working environment. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences such as technical teams, sales teams, executives, and customers. Ability to work effectively within a large organization, understanding dependencies and stakeholder needs. Eligibility to obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, BC.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
