About the role

We are seeking an experienced Internal Communications & Events Specialist to support employee engagement, corporate communications, and internal events for a growing organization. This contract role will play a key part in developing and delivering communication initiatives that strengthen company culture, keep employees informed, and align teams around business priorities.

Working closely with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, the successful candidate will help execute internal communication programs, manage employee-facing content, coordinate company events, and support engagement initiatives across multiple teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution.

Location: Burnaby, BC Term: 3-Month Contract, 30-hours per-week Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days onsite per week, flexible) Key Responsibilities Support the development and execution of internal communications strategies and employee engagement initiatives. Create and manage content for internal communication channels, including intranet updates, company-wide announcements, newsletters, presentations, and leadership communications. Coordinate communication plans and messaging calendars to ensure consistent and timely employee communications. Partner with leaders and stakeholders across the organization to gather information and develop engaging internal content. Assist in planning and executing employee events, town halls, leadership meetings, recognition programs, and other corporate initiatives. Maintain and optimize internal communication platforms and channels to enhance employee engagement and information sharing. Manage project timelines, event logistics, budgets, and vendor coordination where required. Identify opportunities to improve communication processes, tools, and employee experiences. Support broader corporate communications and organizational initiatives as needed.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, employee engagement, marketing, public relations, or a related discipline. Strong writing, editing, and content development skills with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences. Experience managing internal communication programs, employee engagement initiatives, and corporate events. Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Highly organized with strong project management capabilities and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment. Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with leaders, employees, vendors, and external partners. Experience within a regulated, healthcare, life sciences, technology, or similarly complex industry environment is considered an asset. Preferred Experience Employee engagement and culture-building initiatives. Corporate event planning and execution. Intranet, digital communications, and content management platforms. Supporting communications within growing or evolving organizations.
