Temporary Relief Custodian - Multiple Vacancies

  • $22.25 - $26.19 per hour

JOB OVERVIEW:

Perform custodian duties as assigned by supervisor such as minor preventive maintenance, attending to the needs of permits and assisting the Lead Hand and co-workers to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, sanitization and safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Open/secure building and/or areas assigned during and at the end of shift as required.
  • Attend to the needs of community groups using the school by giving directions and setting up equipment in accordance with permit specifications and the Lead Hand’s instructions.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, spray buff, burnish, pick up and take out garbage, dusting and empty pencil sharpeners. Ensure recycling is taken to curbside/designated collection area as required.
  • Maintain school grounds by picking up debris, cutting grass, raking leaves and weeding flower beds. Keep all access clean and areas safe by sweeping, shoveling and salting.
  • Perform duties in accordance with the Board’s Custodial and Safety Manuals and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Log any project work done in the cleaning schedule records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum completion of a secondary school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) months of related experience.
  • Must possess a valid driving license and have access to reliable transportation to various sites within the Board’s jurisdiction.
