Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine cutting-edge AI models on advanced scientific topics. Your expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex biochemistry — from protein folding and enzyme kinetics to metabolic flux and molecular genetics.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role working alongside world-leading AI research teams. No prior AI experience required — your scientific depth is what matters.
Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design Complex Problems — Create advanced biochemistry challenges across areas like proteomics, nucleic acid chemistry, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for AI scientific reasoning Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and scientific integrity Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry or misapplied stereochemistry, and provide structured feedback to improve how the model thinks through life science problems Work Independently — Complete task-based assignments asynchronously on a schedule that works for you
Who You Are
Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or related areas Clear Communicator: Able to explain highly technical biological and chemical concepts in precise, well-structured written form Detail-Oriented: High level of precision when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or academic peer review Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST Background in bioinformatics or cheminformatics
