Temporary summer positions have the potential to become permanent in the fall.

The position entail working within a support team in a day program/centre, community settings, or group home settings; assisting adults who may have physical, developmental, mental health issues, and/or acquired brain injuries. Applicants must possess exemplary communication skills, be compassionate and energetic, and be comfortable supporting individuals with various disabilities.

The Canada Summer Jobs program duration is 8 weeks between June 1st to August 29 and requires applicants to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations

Position Details ( 1 opening available)

  • Position: Support Worker (Canada Summer Jobs)
  • Location: Surrey/Burnaby
  • Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday; schedule may vary based on programming needs)
  • Duration: 8- 12 week temporary summer position
  • Start Date: Immediately
  • End Date: August 28, 2026
  • Compensation: $21.00 per hour

Positions are full time with shifts ranging from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, with the possibility of occasional evening or weekend work. (The Employer reserves the right to make changes to your schedule as per the collective agreement).

Compensation: $21 per hour

Job Duties May Include but Not Limited to:

  • Knowledge and experience working with developmental, physical disabilities, mental health and behaviours
  • Ability to create a meaningful routine
  • Knowledgeable of creating independence vs. creating dependence
  • Following health care plans*
  • Completing daily documentation
  • Implementing personal protocols, schedules, and activities
  • Knowledge and experience with community integration and teaching life skills
  • Leisure recreation activities

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BC Care Aid Registered Number
  • Medication Administration Certificate from reputable school
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Negative TB test
  • Food Safe
  • First Aid/CPR C
