About the role

Staff Bus Driver Reports To: Transportation Supervisor and/or Assistant Transportation Supervisor Position Overview Staff Bus Drivers are primarily responsible for the safe transportation of staff from the Jasper townsite to Marmot Basin in the morning and from Marmot Basin to Jasper in the afternoon on a pre-arranged schedule. Drivers are also responsible for pre-trip inspections, keeping their bus clean & fueled, and assisting passengers in securing equipment to ensure no safety hazards on the trip. Successful applicants must hold a Class 2 Alberta driver’s license in good standing and must have their S-endorsement. Staff Bus Drivers typically drive staff in the mornings/afternoons on either side of their regular departmental shift. The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions. This is a part-time seasonal role, max 5 days out of 7 per week from October through to May each operating season. Please note that you may not receive full-time hours at the beginning/ end of the season and during other slow periods. Alberta Employment Standards regarding a ninety-day probationary period applies. Job duties/ Responsibilities: Transport Marmot Basin staff to and from the ski area Assist the passengers with their ski equipment and ensure it is properly secured for the trip Ensure that your bus is clean inside and out (floors, windows, decals, etc.) Adhere to transport schedules as set by your supervisor/management Be familiar with and adhere to all National Safety Code regulations Complete daily trip inspections Complete Driver Monthly Summaries and submit them to Administration at the end of every month Complete all inspection reports and reporting requirements as per the job duties detailed above Report any damage to, or problems with company vehicles to the Transportation Supervisor and/or Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Assist in emergency situations as required Provide high quality, courteous service to passengers Identify and address safety concerns pertaining to equipment and guests, ensure supervisors are made aware of areas of concern Work in a safe and efficient manner as a member of the Transportation team Assist other departments as required Any additional duties as assigned Adherence to the company’s practices and procedures as set in the ‘Transportation Training Manual’ All Marmot Basin employees will conduct themselves in compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation as it relates to their job Requirements: Must be 18 years or older Valid Alberta Class 2 driver’s licence (or better) with S-endorsement in good standing (3 years preferred) Must provide a 3-year Commercial Driver abstract and be authorized by Marmot Basin’s insurers prior to hire Experience in a customer service-related industry Experience driving passenger vehicles in winter/mountain conditions (an asset) Good organizational and time management skills Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner Demonstrated temperament and disposition for stressful situations Ability to work/cope well in emergency situations should they arise Ability to work well, cooperate and communicate as part of a team Must possess an enthusiastic and positive attitude Enjoy interacting with others Enjoy working outdoors in the winter Attributes: Professional deportment with excellent customer service skills: experience dealing with all on-hill patrons Cheerful, outgoing personality; demonstrated temperament and disposition for sometimes highly stressful situations Strong team member able to take direction Motivated and observant; able to perceive needed tasks and complete them without direction Self-aware; able to identify strengths and gaps in own abilities and training Able to use taught skills and previous experience to problem solve Qualifications: Ski Industry experience (an asset) Previous experience operating commercial highway vehicles (an asset) Mechanical background (an asset) Physically fit Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised Supplementary: Respect and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures as set in the Corporate Policies, Employee Handbook and other Training Manuals
