Who we need Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, we are hiring an Analyst 1 – Organics EPH for our Bedford laboratory. This is a temporary full-time contract role until December 2026. You will be responsible for producing high-quality, defensible analytical data by performing routine and non-routine sample preparation and analysis in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role is suited to a detail-oriented laboratory professional who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and is committed to accuracy, quality, and compliance with laboratory standards including ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. The position is based on-site at 200 Bluewater Road, Suite 105, Bedford, NS, working 37.5 hours per week, with occasional overtime and shift flexibility required. How you will make an impact Perform sample analysis and preparation. You will carry out routine and complex sample preparation and analytical testing for organics (EPH), ensuring adherence to SOPs and quality standards. Plan and organize daily workload. You will review LIMS summary reports to prioritize samples, manage workflow, and meet turnaround time (TAT) expectations. Maintain quality and compliance. You will ensure all work is performed in accordance with SOPs, quality systems, and laboratory safety requirements, including proper documentation and traceability. Operate laboratory equipment. You will use and maintain instrumentation such as GC/LC systems, automated analyzers, pipettes, liquid handling systems, and computer-based LIMS platforms. Troubleshoot technical issues. You will identify and resolve routine analytical or instrument issues, escalating non-routine problems to senior staff or supervisors as required. Manage reagents and materials. You will prepare standards and reagents, monitor inventory levels, and ensure laboratory readiness for ongoing testing. Ensure data integrity. You will identify and document deviations, non-conformances, and sample handling issues, initiating corrective actions where required. Support audits and compliance activities. You will assist with internal and external audits and maintain accurate training and competency records. Contribute to improvement initiatives. You will participate in method development, validation activities, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Maintain a safe work environment. You will follow all health and safety protocols, use PPE appropriately, and ensure laboratory areas remain clean, organized, and compliant. What you bring Education & experience. Post-secondary education in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, or related field (B.Sc. preferred), or equivalent laboratory experience. Laboratory knowledge. Understanding of sample handling, analytical testing, and quality assurance systems in a regulated environment. Technical capability. Experience or familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and data systems (e.g., LIMS, GC/LC systems). Attention to detail. Strong focus on accuracy, documentation, and data integrity. Problem-solving ability. Solid analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to troubleshoot routine issues. Adaptability & teamwork. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage changing priorities, and collaborate effectively. Compensation This posting is required to meet our seasonal capacity. The salary for this role is $18 per hour. Our salary ranges reflect the range of skills and experience required for the posted position. The final offer amount for this role will depend on geographical region, applicable experience, internal equity, and the skillset of the candidate.
