About the role
- At Wealthsimple, we offer 4 to 8-month internships that are open to co-op and non-co-op students, and recent grads. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that are changing the landscape of financial services for Canadians

- Our engineering organization spans everything from product-focused pods to financial infrastructure, building the software that powers our entire suite of services
- We operate with a platform-as-a-product mindset, leveraging microservices and an agile, high-iteration approach. With rigorous automated testing and a deployment frequency of 100+ times a day, we move fast while staying secure
- We empower our high-performing teams with the autonomy they need to ship impactful work, collaborating closely across Product, Design, and Ops to ensure we’re building products our clients love
- Product Engineering:
- Drives the development of our core offerings across Investing, Banking, Tiers, and Marketing. This team builds intuitive and impactful features that empower millions to achieve their financial goals. - Platform Engineering:
- Empowers developers by providing the platforms, tools, and infrastructure needed to build and maintain fast, reliable, secure, and scalable systems. Teams include Brokerage Execution, Data Delivery, Data Platform, Design System, and ML Platform — built with a platform-as-a-product mindset
- Financial Operating System (FOS):
- Offers the fundamental financial building blocks that power our products. Teams including Book of Record and Identity Trust manage core financial operations — building a real-time ledger for improved scalability and enabling product teams to innovate with confidence
- Our Tech Stack:
- Microservice architecture with 100+ services in production
- ~50% Ruby on Rails, ~50% Java/Kotlin; frontend in React/Angular
- Hosted on AWS (RDS, Aurora, SQS, SNS, S3, Kafka)
- Deploying code 100+ times a day with rigorous automated testing
- Best-in-class tooling for profiling, logging, tracing, and experimentation

- At least 2 paid work terms completed
- Able to commute to our Toronto HQ on Wednesdays and Thursdays

- Step 1 — Application + Video Submission: Apply and submit a short video response with a written transcript. Applications open May 4–17
- Step 2 — (May 19th-May 29th) Technical Interview: A 1-hour interview in your language of choice with a technical interviewer
- Step 3 — (June 1st-June 12th) - Project Review Interview: A 30-minute conversation with one of our engineering managers where you will present a recent project
- Step 4 — Offers start to be extended the week of June 8th
