Job Summary
The Team
The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) is here to help citizens who may be incapable, are under the age of 19 or who are deceased.
The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) has the mandate to:
- Protect the legal and financial interests of children under the age of 19 years
- Protect the legal, financial, personal and health care interests of adults who need help with decision-making
- Administer estates of deceased persons and missing persons
The PGT is a corporation sole which is a legal structure with one person responsible for overall service delivery instead of a board of directors. That person is called the Public Guardian and Trustee. The PGT is independent of government when making decisions on behalf of clients. The Role
The Regional Manager, Client Services is part of the senior management team within the Services to Adults division. There are three regional Client Services teams (Greater Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna) that manage financial, legal, and personal decision making for incapable adults in British Columbia. Client Services has a duty to manage clients’ affairs in their best interest and consistent with legislative requirements, frequently with the assistance of clients themselves, supportive family and friends, and service partners. The Client Services teams are supported by legal services, financial services, and field services teams.
The manager leads teams of up to 25 staff to manage a wide range of integrated services to incapable adults who require assistance in managing their affairs. Clients’ circumstances are often unique and complex, which requires collaboration both internal and external to the organization as well as creativity to achieve positive outcomes for clients. The manager works within an environment that is fast-paced with competing priorities and a combination of both operational work and project initiatives such as policy development, systems development, and issue management.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in a related field such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Gerontology, or Clinical Psychology.
- Progressive leadership experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience within the past 5 years.
- Experience in program and service delivery planning and evaluation in a setting oriented towards services to people with disabilities.
- Experience in program/policy development.
- Experience leading major projects and change management processes.
- Experience working with external senior officials and organizations with the ability to establish and maintain a network of relationships and partnerships with internal and external service partners.
Preference may be given to applicants who:
- Self-identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit.
- Have a Masters degree in a related field.
- Recent (last two years) experience directly supervising staff in a social service setting.
Willingness statements:
- Exposure to some travel in remote locations.
- May be required to work evenings/weekends.
- May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31, 2027. This position may be extended.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
