Location: Penticton, BC

BGC Okanagan is hiring a full-time Child, Youth, and Adult Counsellor for our Integrated Family Development Program in Oliver, BC. In this role, you will support caregivers and families through crisis intervention, advocacy, skill development, and connections to community resources. Working collaboratively with families, you will help create individualized service plans that strengthen family functioning and support the well-being of children and youth. This is a temporary three-month contract or until the incumbent returns.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collects and analyzes client information through interviews, observation, meetings with caregivers and service providers, and standardized tools to assess needs.

  • Develops and delivers counselling plans using therapeutic approaches such as family systems, solution-focused, narrative, and group counselling techniques.

  • Provides skill-building in areas including parenting, anger management, and self-regulation.

  • Provides case management services and consultation to other service providers. Provides information on and refers clients to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.

  • Monitors client progress, provides follow-up, and adjusts plans as needed.

  • Evaluates counselling effectiveness, documents progress, and collaborates with therapists, social workers, and other professionals.

  • Liaises with and advocates for clients with community agencies and school personnel. Maintains related records, statistics, and reports.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related human or social services field.
  • Two (2) years of recent, related experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence. Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check

Additional Information:

  • This position is open to all applicants. Union membership is required

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Rate of Pay: $40.03 per hour
