DUTIES:

• As directed by the physiotherapist, carry out exercise and walking programs and/or therapy activities with patients to increase endurance and tolerance

• Assist physiotherapist with patient treatment.

• Participate in facilitation of group therapy

• Facilitate education to patients as assigned by the Physiotherapist

• Perform routine range of motion exercises on patients.

• Prepare and apply the following treatments under the direct supervision of the therapist; ultrasound, electrical stimulation. The site intensity and rate being initiated by the responsible physiotherapist.

• Record and enter workload units in software.

• Maintain medical records of treatment provided as required in EMR.

• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas.

• Participate in quality improvement

• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant Diploma

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 2 years practical physiotherapy experience

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY:

• Demonstrated ability to instruct patients on the use of crutches, canes, walkers and slings

• Demonstrated knowledge in range of motion exercises

• Demonstrated knowledge of ultrasound, electrical stimulation

• Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently, under supervision and as a part of a team.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.

• Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Demonstrated behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, Vision, Values and Standards of Performance.
