Located in the traditional territory of Cowichan Tribes, Duncan seeks to be welcoming, diverse, creative, environmentally sustainable, and resilient.The successful candidate will perform a broad range of duties within the Public Works Department, primarily in the routine operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.  Required Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities include: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (G.E.D.). Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 1 or 3 B.C. Driver's Licence with a satisfactory driver's abstract. Possession of air brakes endorsement. Ability to perform physical labouring duties. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely such as backhoe, loader, dump truck, and vactor truck. Ability to communicate well with co-workers and the public. Ability to follow direction, use sound judgment, and work in a safe, efficient manner. Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures. Willingness to undertake additional training related to the duties of the position.The ideal candidate is well-organized, customer service focused, and keen to deliver high quality service to our community.
