The purpose of this job posting is to create an active bank of candidates for six months (May 1, 2026 to October 30 2026).

Salary Range: $24.73 to $30.09 per hour.

Note: Availability to work at all 4 locations is required.

  1. Canada Science and Technology Museum, 1867 St. Laurent Blvd, Ottawa ON
  2. Canada Aviation and Space Museum, 11 Aviation Parkway, Ottawa ON 
  3. Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, 901, Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa, ON
  4. Ingenium Centre (1865 St-Laurent Blvd, Ottawa, On) based on operational needs as well as other locations on occasion.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES  

Reporting to, and under the supervision of the Coordinator, Events, the Event Staff takes care of the set up and tear down of equipment which may include, but is not limited to, tables and chairs and audio visual (A/V) for a variety of events taking place at the three Museums. 

While the Event Coordinators deals primarily with the clients during the planning process, the incumbent must act as the main point of contact for clients at events and use time management and problem-solving skills to ensure the smooth execution of Museum events and facility rentals.

EDUCATION

  • Secondary school education diploma

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Event set ups and take downs;
  • Working in an area with heavy machinery such as Forklift and/or BT Lifter.

 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Requirements of working in a museum setting;
  • Setting up basic audio-visual equipment;
  • How to read a floor plan and set up sheet for an event.

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to work effectively on a team;
  • Work effectively with minimum supervision, problem solve and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to learn the job quickly and effectively;
  • Ability to work late nights and early mornings as needed;
  • Valid G class driver’s license (Ontario) or Class 5 (Quebec)
  • Physical fitness and stamina to lift reasonably heavy equipment (e.g. racks of tables and chairs), and the ability to work continuously and effectively for long hours;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deliver good customer service.
