Accountant III (Accounting Policy & Advisory) Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 4 days onsite) Duration: 12-Month Contract (July 2026 – July 2027) Pay Rate: Up to $31/hr + 4% Vacation Pay Interview Process: 2 Rounds (Virtual + In-Person) Job Advertisement Accountant III – Accounting Policy & Advisory (CPA) Our client, a leading global financial institution, is seeking an experienced Accountant III to join the Chief Accountant's Department – Accounting Policy & Advisory Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA professional who enjoys solving complex accounting issues, researching IFRS guidance, advising stakeholders, and working on challenging technical accounting matters within a large banking environment. Unlike traditional operational accounting roles, this position focuses on technical accounting research, advisory services, accounting policy interpretation, and stakeholder consultation. What You'll Be Doing Provide accounting policy and advisory support on complex accounting matters. Research and analyze accounting issues under IFRS. Review new business initiatives, financial products, investments, and transactions. Perform IFRS 9 and IFRS 10 assessments related to financial instruments and consolidation. Prepare technical accounting memos and presentations. Review quarterly financial statements, MD&A, and disclosure requirements. Advise stakeholders on accounting implications of business decisions. Participate in discussions with auditors, finance teams, and senior stakeholders. Monitor new IFRS developments and communicate accounting updates. Support ad hoc projects and accounting policy initiatives. Must-Have Qualifications ✅ CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA with one exam remaining) ✅ 3-7 years of relevant accounting experience ✅ Experience researching and applying IFRS guidance ✅ Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred ✅ Financial institution, banking, credit union, or insurance experience ✅ Strong technical accounting background ✅ Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook skills ✅ Excellent written and verbal communication skills Nice-to-Have IFRS 9 Financial Instruments experience IFRS 10 Consolidation experience Audit background Accounting policy/advisory experience Exposure to wholesale banking or capital markets Stakeholder management experience What Makes This Role Unique?
