About the role

This position consists of 7 blocks which are a combination of Introduction to Medical Sciences 11/12 supported by 2 blocks of Work Experience, 2 blocks of English and one block of Social Studies. The students enrolled in the Introduction to Medical Sciences courses will be engaged with Work Experience that will be supported and supervised by the teacher of the Introduction to Medical Sciences courses. This temporary position is currently posted with an end date of October 30, 2026 or "Until Teacher Returns".

Essential to the qualifications is current EMR (Emergency Response Medical Responder) certification (certified by the Red Cross) and Emergency Medical Responder Instructor Certification (certified by the Red Cross). Also, the successful candidate for this position must possess current academic and professional preparation as well as secondary teaching in these subjects and grade levels.

This program will give students the theoretical background and practical experience necessary to pursue careers related to the Health Sciences field. The Introduction to Medical Sciences program provides students with opportunities to:

  • develop employment skills and gain practical experience in Health Sciences
  • Explore potential career options
  • Relate in-school curriculum to the work place

Related Career Opportunities: Registered Nurse, Physician, Physiotherapist, Recreation Therapist, Dentist, Fitness Trainer, Community Health Care, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Medical Lab Technician, Nutritionist, Veterinarian, First Aid Attendant, Massage Therapist, Pharmacist and Paramedic.

Interested applicants are expected to have excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues, as well as a demonstrated ability to plan and implement (adapt and modify) activities designed to meet the needs of all individual students. A keen interest in student-teacher relationships and a commitment to working collaboratively with staff towards achieving goals of the school growth plan and department is essential.
