QUICK FACTS 

  • Wage: $24.61 per hour, plus the ECE Wage Enhancement currently set at $6 per hour

  • Reporting to: Manager, Child Care
  • Team: 11 frontline staff
  • Location: YMCA Child Care at Kelowna Secondary School
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 12-month contract

This role is ideal for an adaptable, confident leader who is passionate about early childhood development and excels at supporting teams, managing multiple priorities, and fostering safe, inclusive, and high-quality childcare environments.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

In this role you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, leading multiple childcare programs and staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting high-quality care and family engagement across the department.

  • Drive high-quality, consistent early years experiences that support children’s development, wellbeing, and sense of belonging
  • Build and sustain a confident, capable team that delivers engaging, inclusive, and responsive programming
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and nurturing environments where children and families feel supported and valued
  • Strengthen family trust and satisfaction through responsive communication and positive relationship-building
  • Enable strong program continuity and reliability through effective staffing leadership and support
  • Champion a culture of inclusion, respect, and YMCA values across all programs and interactions
  • Elevate program quality by embedding best practices and continuous learning within the team
  • Contribute to program growth and community impact by supporting scalable, high-quality childcare services

 

WHAT YOU BRING 

  • Valid BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certification is required
  • 2+ years of experience working in licensed childcare or early years settings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel) and general administrative systems
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between program locations
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)
