The Quality Specialist is responsible for facilitating and/or executing quality and process improvement initiatives to enhance hospital operations, patient care services and care. This role takes leadership in using, teaching and applying LEAN, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies to optimize workflows, efficiency and effectiveness across the corporation. The Quality Specialist works closely with the Manager, Quality & Patient Safety and the Quality Team to support organizational strategy by driving continuous improvement initiatives and mentoring staff in performance excellence.

This role integrates structured project planning methodologies to ensure process improvement initiatives are effectively implemented. Additionally, the Quality Specialist will support accreditation readiness, key performance metric (KPI) identification, scorecard development, and performance metric tracking.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field or engineering
  • Member of a regulated health profession, in good standing
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in progressively responsible roles related to process improvement, quality management, or healthcare operations
  • Experience working in a clinical environment with knowledge of hospital operations is an asset
  • LEAN/Six Sigma Green Belt certification (Black Belt preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Root Cause Analysis framework.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading process improvement projects
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent facilitation, instruction, coaching, and communication abilities
  • Proficiency in process mapping and improvement software (e.g., Visio, MiniTab)
  • Knowledge of structured project planning methodologies and their application in healthcare process improvement
  • Experience in accreditation processes, scorecard development, and performance metric tracking
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization, staff, physicians and volunteers
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field
  • Experience in hospital or healthcare settings
  • Certification in Change Management (e.g., PROSCI)
