About Aeternum Aeternum is an early-stage, fast-growing startup building a private, inheritable digital network that helps families hold onto what matters—forever. The Role: Project Aegis We are currently executing "Project Aegis," a federally funded R&D initiative in partnership with post secondary research teams and local seniors' organizations. Our goal is to bridge the "AgeTech Divide" by creating highly accessible, empathetic UI/UX interfaces that empower older demographics to navigate digital legacy preservation with dignity and autonomy.
We are seeking a mission-driven Frontend Developer to join us on a fixed-term contract through February 2027. You will work directly with our design team, development team, and university research partners to translate qualitative UI/UX data into a beautiful, functional, and accessible frontend experience.
Key Responsibilities Implementation: Translate wireframes, UI/UX recommendations, and research data into responsive, high-quality frontend code for the Aeternum platform. Accessibility First: Ensure all frontend development adheres to top-tier accessibility standards (WCAG), specifically optimizing the experience for senior users (e.g., contrast, navigation logic, cognitive load reduction). Iterative Testing: Collaborate with our academic research partners to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate frontend features based on live feedback from seniors in our pilot programs. Integration: Work alongside our core architecture team to ensure the frontend seamlessly and securely communicates with Aeternum’s backend infrastructure.
What We Are Looking For We operate on the bleeding edge of the React Native ecosystem. You must be highly proficient in: Core Stack: React Native 0.81, Expo ~54, and TypeScript 5.8+. Data & State: Apollo Client 3.13+ and GraphQL (Queries, Mutations, WebSocket Subscriptions). Styling: gluestack-ui and NativeWind 4+ (Tailwind). Navigation: Expo Router 5+ (File-based routing). Empathy & Design: Deep empathy for the end-user and a passion for inclusive design. AgeTech experience is a massive bonus. Agility: A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and can meet strict project deadlines.
Why Join Us? This is not just another coding job. You will be building technology that directly combats the isolation of aging demographics and protects family histories. You will gain hands-on experience working on a federally backed R&D project, collaborating with top researchers, and building software that will be actively deployed to real users.
