Course Number and Name: MUS4273H – Practicum – Advanced & University Levels Course Description: This practical course offers piano teaching experience through observation, and hands-on private lessons through the advanced students of the Adult Community Program. All teaching scenarios are supervised and critiqued by the instructor through videotapes and on-site observations. Class Schedule: Thursdays, 3-4pm, and observations time TBD, in the Winter term Months of contract: January to April 2027 Salary: $4,998.74 Estimated Course Enrollment: 11 TA support: none Qualifications: Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy or in Piano Performance with a cognate in Piano Pedagogy. Experience supervising graduate student teachers and teaching experience at all RCM levels is required. Experience teaching pedagogy coursework at the university undergraduate and graduate levels is preferred. Duties: Monitor and mentor student teaching; prepare course materials; provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations; teach classes as scheduled; administer and evaluate student assignments; prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy.
