Department/Unit/Program Description

RMH is a medium sized hospital that provides 24 hour care to Emergency Room patients. The Emergency department embraces the Hospital’s vision by providing staff with an excellent, supportive, team environment where the clinical team can practice in a multi-disciplinary team, providing Exceptional Care – Together.

Position Summary

The Emergency Department is currently seeking a Casual Registered Practical Nurse to join their team.

Effective Date: August 24, 2026

Essential Qualifications

Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program or RPN Certificate with completion of continued education courses in advanced physical assessment, and medication administration Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Current BCLS certification, on hire Minimum of two years recent medical/surgical experience Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the profession Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well with patients', families, community agencies and the entire emergency department team Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with continually changing priorities Experience in performing patient health teaching Basic computer skills Knowledge of community resources Ability to function independently within scope of practice Ability to maximize utilization of resources Demonstrated good attendance with the ability to maintain this standard Willing to complete Emergency Department medical directives self learning package, IV and blood administration within RPN scope of practice Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis

Preferred Qualifications

Epic trained or ability to train and pass testing

Hours of Work

Must be able to work twelve [12] hour days, Monday through Sunday which will include statutory holidays. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
