Do you enjoy helping students make sense of the world through problem-solving, discovery, and hands-on learning? Sturgeon Public Schools is currently seeking a Part-Time Temporary Junior High Teacher for a work assignment at Four Winds School.

Located in Morinville, Four Winds is home to over 510 students and offers engaging programs like French Immersion, Sports for Life, STEAM, and Performing Arts. With flexible learning spaces—including an outdoor classroom, garden, and amphitheatre—we believe in connecting learning to nature and student interests.

This position focuses on teaching Grade 7 Social Studies and Grade 9 English Language Arts, supporting students as they develop critical thinking, literacy, communication, and citizenship skills that prepare them for success in school and beyond.

What You’ll Be Doing

Teach Grade 7 Social Studies and Grade 9 English Language Arts Design and deliver engaging learning experiences aligned with the Alberta curriculum and Teaching Quality Standard Foster critical thinking, inquiry, communication, and responsible citizenship through meaningful learning opportunities Support students in developing literacy skills through reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and representing Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students Use a variety of assessment practices to support student growth and outcomes-based reporting Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that promotes student well-being and success Integrate educational technology and diverse learning resources to enhance student engagement Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to support student achievement

What You Bring

A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate Experience teaching middle years and/or junior high students Knowledge of the Alberta Social Studies and English Language Arts curriculum Understanding and application of the Teaching Quality Standard and effective assessment practices Experience fostering literacy development and critical thinking skills Strong classroom management skills that create a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues Strong skills in using educational technology to support learning Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
