Job Summary:
The primary functions of the Academic Peer Success Coaches are to guide and coach 10-15 program participants in the TRIO SSS program, as well as serve as a tutor and participate in TRIO programming.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
Establish a positive professional relationship with TRIO SSS players. Serve as a resource to help students develop academic, career, financial and student engagement goals. Facilitate regular group meetings (e.g., Career Communities) with assigned students. Attend weekly office hour for data entry and reach outs. Tutor and lead academic coaching for approximately 2 hours of “drop by” office hours per week. Meet individually with each assigned student 3 times per semester. Attend all TRIO SSS programs, including required programs on weekends Record all coach/tutor interactions with program participants on the Lacai database weekly. Participate in mandatory bi-weekly training throughout the year as well as a mandatory 2-day training in August before classes start. Commit to the program for the entirety of the 2026-2027 academic year. Act in a professional manner at all times with program participants and program staff. Communicates with their TRIO SSS supervisor through monthly meetings and is contact in a timely manner with any concerns.
Educational Requirements:
Currently enrolled at St. Mary’s University. Must maintain a semester and cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher. Must have completed at least 60 academic credit hours. Must be on Good Academic Standing.
Qualifications:
Proven record of academic success and in establishing rapport with college-aged students. Ability to transfer knowledge effectively and to generate detailed meeting/session notes. Be passionate about helping students meet their academic/career goals. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Maintain a professional attitude and excellent customer service skills. Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for TRIO SSS events.
Compensation:
$13.00 per hour. Students work approximately 10 hours per week. Hours should be accumulated through student meetings, database management, attending training and participating in various TRIO SSS programs.

Ability to perform duties with or without accommodations during regular programming and special events is required.
