Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Intern/Co-op to support the design, development, and testing of mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems. This role focuses on power transmission systems, particularly IVT drivetrain technologies for heavy-duty vehicles.

Working under direct supervision, you will contribute to product development, prototype testing, and system integration while gaining hands-on industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design Support

  • Perform engineering calculations and support design activities
  • Create 3D models and components using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Develop and review detailed engineering drawings
  • Support programming tasks (C++ and embedded C for electrical/control applications)

Systems Integration

  • Assist in integrating mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems into cohesive designs
  • Support system-level testing and validation activities

Prototype Assembly & Testing

  • Participate in prototype builds and test execution
  • Document and report test results based on established test plans

Product Support

  • Assist with troubleshooting product issues in-house and in the field
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions

Administrative & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Follow engineering standards, processes, and corporate requirements
  • Utilize ERP and PLM systems for documentation and workflow
  • Support LEAN manufacturing initiatives

Qualifications & Skills

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design and strong mechanical aptitude
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
  • Exposure to C++, embedded C, and MATLAB/Simulink is an asset
  • Technical writing and documentation skills

Education & Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Diploma in Engineering Technology
  • Minimum 8-month commitment required
