Are you looking for the perfect blend of duties that combine both community and hospital pharmacy technician practice? Are you tired of working evenings and weekends? The Grande Prairie Cancer Center Pharmacy might be just what you are looking for! Technicians practice to their full scope and perform all aspects of drug distribution services to provide safe and quality patient care. Pharmacy Technician dispensing related responsibilities include triage, preparation, repackaging and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products and individual patient prescriptions. Other duties include guiding and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students; providing clinical support through obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifying discrepancies, and/or collecting and organizing information to support the provision of direct patient care; participating in special projects and programs as assigned; maintaining department records and statistics and preparing reports as required. It is important to build and maintain successful interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team, including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and problem- solving distribution issues. Technicians must demonstrate a high standard of performance through the completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic techniques and final product checking. The pharmacy supports remote drug delivery to Peace River and is live on the provincial Connect Care electronic patient care system.
