Unposting Date: 2026-07-27 11:59 PM Function: Performs makeup tasks required in the design crafts. Creative problem solving may be required, where production requirements are clear, to devise new methods and techniques. Work is generally performed according to accepted CBC or industry standards but assignments require independent action, judgment and initiative as well as consultation with other program, production or design personnel. Contact with performers and guests demands discretion in communications and handling. This is a one-year, part-time contract position—five days a week, five hours a day. It may require shift work or overtime. Key Tasks: Contributes ideas and makes recommendations to overcome problems or achieve desired results. Consults with the Supervising Makeup Artist to determine best methods of production and materials to be used. In consultation with the Supervising Makeup Artist, ensures visual continuity. Selects and prepares tools and materials, and ensures that they are available to meet program requirements. Researches makeup material, tries new techniques and evaluates products. Works in close collaboration with others on the makeup team to deliver top quality makeup services. Performs all or part of the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification. As assigned or required, may perform any or all of the following tasks: Use artistic skill in the application of makeup, including character makeup and prosthetics. Schedule performers for makeup. Prepare, apply and remove all types of performers’ makeup. Alter makeup as required. Provide touch-up makeup including on live sets, being mindful of the requirement for speed and timing of the touch-ups. Check talent and hosts on monitors to make sure makeup is up to industry standard on HD distribution. Evaluate design materials to determine if they meet program requirements. You possess: Community College graduation with study in relevant courses, or equivalent industry experience. Requires good knowledge and understanding of television program production methods including picture, lighting and design craft functions, as well as how these crafts interact with the production clients. One year experience. Attention to detail and accuracy in carrying out tasks. Resourcefulness and initiative. Excellent work organization skills. Good verbal communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure. Open-minded to new methods. Excellent interpersonal skills. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
