Job Posting for Sessional LecturerThis job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement Course: GGR318H5F: Political Geography (SSc) Description: Political geography is concerned with the spatial expression of political entities and events. It involves analysis at a variety of scales ranging from the local to the global. The control and manipulation of territory and the imposition of political boundaries and political ideas are central to this analysis. The course provides discussion on nation building, the emergence of the state system, theories on the state, and the role of the state as provider of services and regulator of activities, and electoral geography and governance. [24L] Class Schedule:LEC0101 Thursdays 09:00 - 11:00 Estimated enrolment: 75 TA support: will be subject to final enrollment figures Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - December 30, 2026 Salary: In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, rate of pay is $9,997.48 for a Half (F/S) course, $19,994.95 for a full (Y) course. All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Qualifications: PhD or PhD candidate in Human Geography. Previous experience teaching a similar course, and evidence of teaching excellence in the subject covered in the course would be an asset. Description of Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TA’s assigned to course; order all necessary readings. The mode of instruction for this course is online synchronous.
