Description: Course number and title: FOR200H1F: Conservation of Canada's Forests Course description: Forest conservation issues in Canada; fundamentals of forest biology and ecology; forest biodiversity; development of forest management philosophy in Canadian forested regions; concepts of sustainability. Sustainable forest management strategies; forest policy and economics in a Canadian context; forest certification; protected areas. Estimated course enrolment: 250 Estimated TA support: 220 hours Class Schedule:    Tutorial:     Fridays 10:00AM – 11:00AMLecture    Wednesdays 6:00PM – 8:00PM  Number of positions: 1 Sessional dates of appointment: 1 September 2026 – 31 December 2026; please note that this position includes the completion of any course work and grading not completed by 31 December 2026. Salary (per half-course, inclusive of vacation):  Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,997.58Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $ 10,699.22Sessional Lecturer II $ 10,699.22 Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $ 10,953.96Sessional Lecturer III: $ 10,953.96Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,228.90 Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.   Minimum qualifications:  Preferably a Ph.D. degree or extensive experience in forest conservation; teaching experience and certificates an asset.   Description of duties:  Prepare and deliver lectures, organize guest speakers, maintain course notes and readings on Quercus, set and mark course assignments which may include mid-term, essay and final examination or other assignments with the support of TA; compile, record and submit final marks.
