Responsibilities OH&S Program Administration Assist with maintaining and updating OH&S program documentation, policies, procedures, and forms. Support the administration of safety management systems and document control processes. Organize and maintain electronic and hard-copy safety records. Assist with tracking corrective actions, safety inspections, training records, and regulatory requirements. Inspections and Hazard Management Participate in workplace inspections and hazard assessments. Assist in identifying workplace hazards and documenting recommendations for corrective actions. Help track and monitor hazard reports and corrective action completion. Support workplace ergonomic assessments and safety reviews as required. Incident Reporting and Investigation Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss reporting processes. Support incident investigations by gathering information, documenting findings, and tracking corrective actions. Maintain incident statistics and assist with trend analysis. Training and Communication Coordinate safety training schedules and maintain training records. Assist with the development of safety presentations, toolbox talks, safety alerts, and educational materials. Support employee engagement initiatives that promote a positive safety culture. Assist with orientation materials for new employees and contractors. Data Analysis and Reporting Compile and analyze safety performance data. Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly OH&S reports, metrics, and dashboards. Conduct research on industry best practices, emerging safety trends, and regulatory updates. Support compliance audits and inspections by regulatory agencies. Qualifications OH&S education and or certification or in progress Learning Outcomes Understand workplace health and safety legislation (e.g., Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workers’ Compensation requirements). Learn the basics of hazard identification and risk assessment. Gain awareness of common workplace hazards (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, psychosocial). Understand the role of safety committees and joint health & safety structures. Develop communication skills by interacting with supervisors, workers, and safety professionals. Practice writing clear safety reports, inspection notes, and training documentation. Build confidence in presenting safety information to small groups. Learn how to balance compliance requirements with practical workplace realities.
