Role Overview A Senior GIS QA Analyst is required to support a large-scale geospatial application modernization initiative. The successful candidate will evaluate upgraded GIS infrastructure and newly upgraded GIS applications as part of an enterprise technology transformation program. This role involves testing business-critical GIS applications that are being upgraded to a modern GIS platform. The work includes validating application functionality, infrastructure performance, integration capabilities, accessibility compliance, and overall user experience improvements.
The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, testing leads, technical leads, business stakeholders, and project management resources to ensure high-quality delivery throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Provide advice and guidance on testing strategy, test plans, testing tools, and resource requirements. Plan, organize, and execute testing activities for large-scale systems in both GUI and non-GUI environments. Conduct systems integration testing, specialized testing, and user acceptance testing activities, including stress testing. Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, test cases, and test data. Work closely with testing leads, technical leads, project teams, and stakeholders throughout analysis, design, development, implementation, and support phases. Support ongoing quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement activities. Required Qualifications General Testing & QA Experience Experience planning, organizing, and implementing testing efforts for complex systems. Knowledge of structured methodologies for application development, design, implementation, and maintenance. Experience using Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and data query tools. Experience utilizing automated testing tools and version control systems. Experience executing functional, non-functional, and systems integration testing. Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Strong knowledge of QA principles, methodologies, tools, and best practices. Experience creating testing strategies, test plans, test cases, and test data. Experience with unit, integration, load, and performance testing. Knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively and meet project deadlines. Knowledge of one or more automated testing tools. Desirable Qualifications Knowledge of at least one programming language. Experience working with information retrieval tools and technologies. Understanding of GIS infrastructure and application testing methodologies. Knowledge of Information Management principles and practices. Understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and requirements. Experience testing Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications. Experience designing and developing automated test scripts. Technical Skills & Experience Technical Experience Experience with GIS (Esri) based projects and applications including: ArcMap ArcGIS Pro SDK File Geodatabases ArcObjects ArcGIS Portal ArcGIS Online Experience supporting IT infrastructure modernization and maintenance-focused initiatives. Experience with: VBA .NET C++ C# SDKs Communication Experience Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Experience facilitating discussions and driving consensus among stakeholders. Experience collaborating with business analysts, project managers, and technical teams. Public Sector Experience Experience working within public sector environments. Familiarity with government IT standards, governance frameworks, and project gating processes. Mandatory Requirements Experience with GIS (Esri) based projects and applications such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro SDK, File Geodatabases, ArcObjects, ArcGIS Portal, and ArcGIS Online. Experience supporting IT infrastructure modernization and maintenance projects. Experience with VBA, .NET, C++, C#, and SDKs. Ability to work continuously throughout the duration of the contract.
