Role Description The Heating Air Conditioning Technician is a contract, on-site role based in North York, ON. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, completing safety and regulatory checks, and documenting all work performed in alignment with company and client standards. The technician will coordinate with engineering and trade teams on shop floor support, assist with shutdown and project work as needed, and ensure system performance meets GMP and other applicable regulatory requirements. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, clear communication with clients and internal stakeholders, and consistent delivery of reliable service. Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Troubleshooting skills for HVAC and refrigeration systems, including diagnostics and problem resolution. Candidates should possess Plumbing skills relevant to HVAC installations, condensate drainage, and associated piping work. Candidates should possess Preventive Maintenance skills, including routine inspections, component servicing, and maintenance record-keeping. Candidates should possess Electricity skills for working with motors, controls, wiring, and electrical safety in HVAC systems. Candidates should possess EPA or equivalent environmental and refrigerant handling certification, as applicable to local regulations. Relevant trade or technical certification in HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field is preferred. Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments and familiarity with GMP, HACCP, or similar standards is an asset. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals, and use standard HVAC tools and test equipment. Strong safety mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional trade and engineering teams.
