   Job Posting for Sessional LecturerThis job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement   Course: GGR252H5F: Retail Geography (SSc)   Description: Commercial activities are a significant and visible part of our social system. We are what we consume, and our consumption priorities describe our society. Consumption practices are mediated through the action of retailers and the preference of consumers. The course examines the organization of the retail economy and considers relationships between retail practices and environmental, ethical and social justice concerns. Likewise it explores how social, environmental and ethical beliefs of consumers influence their purchasing practices, the connections between consumer behaviour and the practices of retailers and the possibilities for developing a retail economy that better aligns with societal concerns for social justice, ethical production and environmental sustainability. [24L]   Class Schedule:LEC0101 Mondays 09:00 - 11:00  Estimated enrolment: 200   TA support: will be subject to final enrollment figures   Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - December 20, 2026   Salary: In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, rate of pay is $9,997.48 for a Half (F/S) course, $19,994.95 for a full (Y) course. All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.   Qualifications: PhD or PhD candidate in Human Geography.  Previous experience teaching a similar course, and evidence of teaching excellence in the subject covered in the course would be an asset.   Description of Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TA’s assigned to course; order all necessary readings.  The mode of instruction for this course is online synchronous.   Application Submission: To be considered for a position applicants must submit the CUPE application form as well as their CV of no more than 3 pages together with recent course evaluations by email to the department Chair, Laura Brown, at: geography.admin@utoronto.ca. Closing Date: 07/14/2026, 11:59PM EDT**         This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.           It is understood that some announcements of vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.
