Job Description: Under the direction of the Emergency Manager, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for ensuring all work is in alignment with the organizations missions, goals, values, and strategic plans to promote high quality, safe client care. This is accomplished by assisting in establishing and maintaining best practice; assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating unit orientation, clinical training and other educational programming; assessing learning needs; acting as a clinical resource; promoting client and family centered care; participating in committee work as assigned; participating in continuous improvement activities; developing and maintaining client and staff resources. The CNE will function as a member of the interprofessional clinical team to promote effective delivery of client care in the SHA, including direction and regular communication from the clinical area manager(s).The clinical nurse educator is a self-directed practitioner with strong communication skills who works in collaboration with interdisciplinary members to promote quality client and family centered care and cultural competence. The clinical nurse educator is an experienced practitioner with expert clinical knowledge and skills.The Clinical Nurse educator is an educator, clinical leader, change agent, facilitator, and consultant.

Education

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course Instructor certificate (TNCC)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Experience

  • 5 years recent full-time experience in emergency nursing 
  • Experience in a clinical leadership role such as charge nurse or equivalent

 

Licenses

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor Certificate (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support Instructor Certificate (BLS)
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

Competencies

  • Basic - Verbal communication skills
  • Basic - Computer skills
  • Basic - Writing skills
  • Advanced - Communication skills

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge in nursing process and principles of adult learning
