People & Payroll Administrator – Temp 12 Months (Campbell River, BC)

Cermaq Canada is seeking a People & Payroll Administrator to join us for a full-time, 12-month contract role of in our People & Culture Department to help support us through an exciting period of business transition.

You would work full-time in the Cermaq Canada’s Campbell River office reporting to the Human Resource Director.

Your day has a variety of tasks and people to work with. Primarily, you are the support or ‘hub’ for the P&C team.

Position Accountabilities:
Human Resources Function – shared responsibilities with your team:

  • Providing support to the People & Culture team for employee life cycle management from recruitment through to offboarding such as orientation, performance management, employee recognition, training & development, and progressive discipline
  • Managing employee access and set-up on a variety of internal IT systems
  • Manage department projects or participate on project teams focused on employee relations and their experience.
  • Track, audit, and continually improve HR processes with your team.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives such as recognition, employee events, etc.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership by participating in the safety program and supporting it with department actions.

Payroll & Benefit Administrator Function:

  • Administer bi-weekly pay, bonuses, and payroll from timesheet submission through commitment and reporting out in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Acting as a technical resource for managers and employees for all payroll and benefit related matters.
  • Administer group benefit enrollments, including addition of family member & updates within the benefit provider’s web portal.
  • Preparation of various payroll reports. These reports include vacation reports, overtime reports, Finance reports by Employee/department/labour costs, etc. All reports are completed by downloading information and completing the analysis in Excel.
  • Seek opportunities to continually improve the payroll and benefit processes for greater service, transparency, and efficiency.

**Position Requirements:**Education & Experience:

  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and multi-tasking abilities to manage changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Able to complete Excel formulas over multiple tabs, pivot tables, v-lookups, filters and analyze the data for errors and/or omissions.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required due to occasional regional travel to other worksites on Vancouver Island (travel expenses are reimbursed) and in-town movement to our warehouse.
  • Recent payroll processing experience using a computerized payroll system, experience with Ceridian Dayforce would be considered an asset.

You bring either:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) considered an asset but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
  • Knowledge of the BC Employment Standards Act and Federal regulations that govern provincial employees and/or;
  • Human Resources experience or education in a medium to large size organization as an administrator or generalist.

This temporary full-time position is based out of our Campbell River head office and works Monday to Friday. Some flexibility is required for travel and events. Company paid medical & dental benefits are available upon hire. The wage for this role is $26-29/ hour.
