About the role

JOB SUMMARY

The Child and Youth Workers are responsible for developing and supervising indoor and outdoor recreational activities for children and youth 6-14 years of age. Successful candidates will have an abundance of enthusiasm and energy, and can lead small groups of children in a variety of organized, cooperative, and teambuilding activities in an outdoor park setting.

The Child and Youth Workers will develop informative, fun, youth-friendly and engaging promotional materials and various online content to connect with our target audience of youth 13-17 years of age.

The Child and Youth Workers will need to be flexible, adapt quickly to changing circumstances, and be comfortable leading small groups. The staff must have the ability to establish structured daily, weekly, and monthly program schedules, incorporating a variety of theme days and community initiatives is essential to this role.

The ability to work independently and maintain contact with supervisors through various forms of communication is required.

Qualifications:

  • Currently working towards completion of an undergraduate degree, college certification in a relevant discipline or combination of education and/or relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working directly with children 6-14 years of

age in social-recreation, day camp, or similar setting and experience in social media strategy and execution, content development and delivery

  • Experience working with multicultural communities; low-income neighborhoods; high risk families

  • Experience with program planning and delivering structured programming in a community-based setting

  • Experience with door-to-door outreaching and participant recruitment

  • Demonstrated effective leadership and mentoring skills

  • Knowledge of current child and youth issues

  • Ability to work with community partners and stakeholders

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Self-motivated team player and ability to work independently

  • Criminal Record Check

  • Access to a computer with internet access is required

  • Additional languages preferred (French, Somali, Arabic and/or Spanish)

  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of the employment.

Salary: $19.37/ hour

Term: This temporary role will run from June 22, 2026 to August 14, 2026.
